What is this need?
Learners, and adult learners in particular, must believe that they can learn, that they do not have to know everything, and that their opinions are valid. The absence of these beliefs undermines learning efforts. The presence of these beliefs encourages learning. Frequent validation of each accomplishment encourages continued involvement.
